Carol Parnell is an award-winning writer, producer and digital media consultant with more than twenty years’ experience working in the creative content industry. Her rich and diverse background includes project management, business development and analysis, program development, communications, strategic planning, management consulting and policy-making.
Prior to her work with FanTrust, Carol managed Telefilm Canada’s New Media Fund in the western region for eight years, leading a multidisciplinary team of analysts in the due diligence process of managing their project portfolios. As a Telefilm analyst and new media manager, Carol also reviewed the business affairs, creative elements, marketing and distribution strategies of television and digital media companies in order to make recommendations for funding. Over the years, Carol has served as jury member for the Manitoba Interactive Digital Media Fund, TELUS Innovation Fund, the New Media SLAM and Canadian New Media Awards, adjudicating interactive media and cross-platform projects. She has a special interest in multi-platform content and casual games, and works with game developers, mobile content providers and companies creating convergent projects. Carol is also national Director of Programs for the Wired Woman organization and a member of New Media BC as well as the co-founder of ecotype.ca, a consultancy specializing in technical environmental services and content.
